The S.C. Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that left the rider’s body on the side of I-85 for about two hours Thursday morning.

Investigator Dwayne Corn with the Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office said the rider was Yamil Ruiz Cedeno, 36, Spartanburg. He was not wearing a helmet.

Cedeno’s body was found by the interstate near the interchange with Highway 101. A passer-by noticed him and contacted the Spartanburg County sheriff’s deputies, who went to the scene and found a motorcycle about 30 to 40 feet from the body about 7:30 a.m., said Lance Cpl. Kathy Hiles with the Highway Patrol.

Troopers determined that Cedeno was driving a 2001 Honda motorcycle north on I-85 when the cycle ran off the right side of the road, ejecting him.
